Dog-friendly beaches around Lake Garda
What could be better than a sunny day at the beach, splashing in the water with your faithful friend? If you’re planning a trip to Lake Garda with your dog, you’ll be happy to know there are several fantastic spots where both of you can enjoy the lake to the fullest.
One of the most popular dog-friendly beaches on Lake Garda is Bracco Baldo Beach in Peschiera. Spanning over 1,000 square meters, this well-equipped beach is designed with your pet’s comfort in mind. Here, fun and relaxation are guaranteed: cool off in the bathing area, stroll along the lakeside, or lounge on the sunbeds – the choice is yours. Best of all, your dog can romp around together with other peers. If you are in Lazise, don’t miss the Giulietta Beach, where a designated pet-friendly area promises comfortable, fun-filled days.
Lake Garda also offers several public beaches where dogs are welcome. However, each municipality has its own regulations regarding pets on the beach to ensure a smooth experience for all visitors. Be sure to check the official websites of the local municipalities for the latest guidelines before heading out.
Molina Waterfall Park
The waterfalls of Molina are embedded in a stunning natural park located in the Lake Garda hinterland. Here dogs are allowed free of charge, and they can walk with you amid nature and enjoy the views of rocks, caves, grottos, streams and waterfalls. Dogs must be kept on a leash and are not allowed to enter the waters, but that doesn't matter as the park offers lots of shade, which is very pleasant, especially in summer. For more information, read our story about the Molina Park.
Not far from the waterfalls, you can find the medieval village of Molina, which is worth a visit. Here you can also enjoy a nice walk with dog surrounded by nature and culture.
Busatte-Tempesta trail
A panoramic hike also suitable for your dog if it is not afraid of heights and steps. However, if your four-legged friend is of smaller size, you can carry it on the stairs. The walk starts at the Adventure Park in Busatte (Torbole) and leads towards the hamlet of Tempesta. Along the way, you will enjoy fantastic views of the northern Lake Garda and the surrounding mountains. So, let's go and enjoy fun and adventurous moments on this hike with dog on Lake Garda!
La Rocca di Garda Tour
A panoramic walk in the middle of nature with your faithful companion. The Rocca di Garda is a rock of about 300 metres height between Garda and Bardolino. It offers one of the most beautiful views of the lake as it includes the town of Garda with its bay on one side, and all the southern lake up to Sirmione peninsula on the other. Up here, you can fully enjoy nature together with your four-legged friend. You can find the directions here.
Monte Baldo cable cars
A paradise for hikers, nature lovers, cyclists, and outdoor enthusiasts. The cable car from Malcesine to the top of Monte Baldo is one of the best ways to admire stunning views of Lake Garda, especially if you are travelling with your pet. Only one dog per gondola is allowed, with a muzzle and leash. The ride takes about 20 minutes. To find out more about the cable car, just take a peek at our story. The cable car is not far from the old town and the castle of Malcesine, and you can reach it with a short 5-minute walk with your dog through cobbled streets and winding alleys.
But that's not all! You can also reach Monte Baldo from San Zeno di Montagna. The cable car from Prada to Costabella, fully renovated in 2022, will transport you to the summit near Cima Costabella, soaring over 1800 meters. This journey involves two stages: a 20-minute ride on an open-air bucket-like lift, and a 10-minute one on a two-seater chairlift. Dogs are welcome on the cable car but must wear a muzzle (available at the ticket office). Once at the summit, indulge in delicious meals at local huts and embark on endless panoramic walks with your four-legged friend. Boat trip with dog
Dogs and other pets are allowed on the Lake Garda ferries and boats. But what do you need to know before your boat tour? Your dog must not occupy a seat, and he must be kept on a leash not longer than one and a half metres to not disturb other passengers. Small dogs (under 50 cm) travel free on the ferry, while medium and large dogs (over 50 cm) pay a reduced fare. Dogs accompanying blind people travel free of charge and without restrictions.
So, are you ready to enjoy the breeze, the views and the stunning colours of the lake? A boat trip on Lake Garda is an opportunity to get to know the lake from a whole new perspective together with your dog. Don't miss out!
